Summary/Objective API is seeking a seasoned professional to join our company in the role of a Data Analyst. The position will be based in our Sydney, Mascot Office Location. The Data Analyst will utilize advanced algorithms to turn data into information and information into insight. Essential Functions Interpret data and analyze results using statistical techniques. Analyze airline spending and create risk assessment plans utilizing Smith Travel Research market reports, market trends and conditions. Develop reporting for tracking key market changes. Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality. Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain internal databases/data systems. Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets. Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems. Implement improvements to the sourcing process to best serve our clients. Competencies Ability to build macros in Excel and organize data in Access. Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques. Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc.), databases (SQL etc.), programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks) Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc.) Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy. Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings. Great attention to detail. Ability to collaborate effectively and work as part of a team. Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced corporate environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Impeccable integrity and a strong work ethic. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, normal core business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Work Environment This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
