Purpose of Position: This role is an integral part of multi-discipline engineering / R&D team charged with developing Hexagons hardware product roadmap. You will use your strong product design skills to turn a product scope into a minimum viable product to deliver the value add. You will be working with a variety of stakeholders to understand how the product adds value and ensure the design meets requirements of usability, functionality and reliability. You will develop prototypes suitable for in-field testing on underground mines with potential clients, and be actively involved in the MVP testing underground. You will engage with Product Managers, System Specialists, Fabricators, Machinists, Mechanical Assembly Techs, Electronic Engineers, Test Engineers, and Embedded Software Developers to develop specifications, requirements and testing methodologies to develop existing and new product lines. Major Areas of Responsibility: Delivering product specifications against requirements Scoping of product development work, timelines and budget estimates 3D CAD development 3D Printing Research & Development in areas such as vibration and vibration suppression, natural frequencies, ingress, materials technology, shock loading, environmental dynamics, oxidisation, and modern manufacturing techniques Prototype testing and test methodology & tooling development Engaging with external manufacturing / design consultancies where necessary Product validation and testing from prototype to commercial product Minimum viable product field testing with clients and stakeholder Developing project timeline and cost estimates Knowledge and Experience - Required: Bachelors degree (Mechanical Engineering or equivalent) 5 years+ in product development for Mining Equipment, Technology and Services (METS) companies or similar industry Up to date fabrication and supplier network in Perth 3D CAD modelling in SolidWorks Passive Acoustic Vibration Control/Isolation design methodologies and test instrumentation Stakeholder engagement at all levels in a business Report and presentation creation with Microsoft Office suite FEA simulation Knowledge and Experience - Desired: Working knowledge of gyroscopic and accelerometer sensors 3D printing (SLA & FDM) Travel: Occasional International and/or Domestic travel required, generally to mine sites.
