We have an exciting opportunity in Brisbane for an experienced Legal Counsel to join our Asia-Pacific team on a permanent basis. This role is the sole Legal Counsel position for the Asia-Pacific Region but is part of our broader Legal and Commercial team, which spans New Zealand, North and South America, and Europe. You will support our Asia-Pacific region (TAP)by providing timely and relevant advice to regional management on local laws and regulations, aiding commercial decision-making, and ensuring compliance in our daily operations. The mission of the Regional Counsel is to manage the legal functions of the TAP Region and offer timely regional advice that aligns with Tait's global objectives. This position entails interpreting local laws and regulations pertaining to commercial processes to support the General Managers (GMs) of the region in their daily business decisions and transactions. The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional with robust practical legal skills, a proactive attitude, and a keen eagerness to learn. Partnering with business units to provide commercial and legal support within the region. Empowering the pre-sales and bid proposal management teams with RFP reviews and responses and guiding them through the various RFP processes. Providing clear and practical guidance to the business working to ensure compliance of the Region with Tait regional and Group policies and processes, applicable legislation including regulations, directives and customer policies as well as developing appropriate polices to support compliance. Undertaking contract drafting, review and negotiations. Ensure all dimensions of proposed contracts are completed and reviewed (and approvals obtained) regarding appropriate mitigation of regional, corporate and contract risk, pricing and margin contribution, technical risk, and commercial terms. The duties of the role will include: Offering comprehensive commercial and legal assistance within the designated region. Supporting the pre-sales and bid proposal management teams by conducting thorough reviews of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and providing guidance throughout the RFP processes. Furnishing clear and actionable advice to the business, ensuring adherence to Tait regional and Group policies, as well as relevant legislation, regulations, directives, and customer policies. Additionally, developing suitable policies to uphold compliance standards. Handling contract drafting, review, and negotiations. Verifying that all aspects of proposed contracts are addressed and reviewed, obtaining necessary approvals, and ensuring appropriate mitigation of regional, corporate, and contract risks, pricing and margin considerations, technical challenges, and commercial terms. About You To be successful in this role, you will have a Bachelor of Law As well as: 7+ years' experience in a similar role Excellent communication skills, able to make presentations when required. Advanced windows application skills Skilled in negotiation Skilled in commercial risk analysis and mitigation strategies. Experience with ICT / Technology contracts. Experience with System Integration agreements. International contracting / contracting in different jurisdictions. Familiarity with tender and procurement processes. Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in Australia. What's in it for you?
