Purpose of Position: Hexagon Mining in partnership with our client will deploy and operate a world-first fleet of 120 fully Autonomous Road Trains to carry ore 150km to the Port. Hexagon Mining have multiple exciting opportunities for Autonomous Onboard Technology Engineers to join our team full-time in Western Australia on this cutting-edge Autonomous Road Trains project. The Autonomous Onboard Technology team will engineer safe Autonomous Road Train operations via the implementation, configuration and safe operation of Hexagon’s onboard technology. You will be an excellent team player and collaborator critical to the success of this world-first project. The future of mining is here! Major Areas of Responsibility: Responsible for the installation, commissioning, and operation of Hexagon onboard technology on both autonomous and driven vehicle fleets critical for safe autonomous operations Lead campaigns promoting a safety-focused culture and reinforcing safe behaviors when working with Autonomous Road Trains Recognise and celebrate safety milestones and successes related to implemented technology Establish and enforce comprehensive safety protocols and risk management strategies to minimise accidents or incidents Provide hands-on training, instruction and advice on the effective use of Hexagon’s onboard technology Lead the data analysis and review of the onboard technology, reporting any incidents and driving continuous improvement Own technical configuration of onboard technology ensuring any changes are documented and approved via Management of Change procedure Create a dedicated support system for continuous assistance and troubleshooting Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of onboard technologies Execute daily plans to ensure the deployment team adheres to the project schedule and budget constraints Knowledge and Experience We are looking for candidates with varying levels of experience including recent Graduates. Tertiary qualifications or higher in Engineering or Technology related disciplines Experience in mining operations, with knowledge of daily mine workings Experience in mining technology and operations technology Experience with collision avoidance systems, onboard autonomy, personal safety systems or By-wire. Experience with risk assessment frameworks such as the EMERST safety framework. Experience with qualitative and data-driven risk assessments and continuous safety improvement methodologies. Experience with configuration management of autonomous technology systems. Understanding of mine safety regulations, processes and systems Fast learner prepared to undertake significant training to become competent in Hexagon’s safety and autonomous technology The ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities High attention to detail and the ability to identify and execute improvements to continuously optimise operations Must have the right to work in Australia Travel: This is a fly-in-fly-out position to Ashburton on an 8/6 day shift and 7/7 night shift roster for a healthy work-life balance.
