Head of Business Development, Surf Zone AI

Description:

Summary: We are looking for a Business Development leader to join the Surfline team and lead our Surfzone AI initiative. Surfzone AI is a suite of machine learning monitoring tools that sit on top of a standard weatherproof CCTV camera and provide an array of valuable insights enabling 'smarter beaches'. Our technology is well protected by a suite of patents and our international teams have decades of experience in installing and maintaining cameras in challenging beachfront environments around the world for our consumer app. We've always had some level of B2B alongside our consumer focus, but with Surfzone AI we plan to develop this further with this person leading the charge. We've demonstrated market fit and have a pipeline of meaningful deals. Still, we need a strategic thinker with an understanding of the space to develop further leads, build relationships, sign contracts, and manage accounts. We imagine this will involve direct deals, partnerships or reseller relationships, and designing and implementing strategy here is part of the role. This role will sit on our Innovation team and report to our Vice President of Innovation. Under Surfline’s “Work from Anywhere” policy, this position may be performed on a full-time remote basis from a variety of locations in Australia. What You'll Do: Develop and implement Surfzone AI strategy. Prospect and develop new business, clients, and partnerships. Negotiate and close contracts. Build and maintain partnerships or reseller relationships. Use our patent portfolio to build value and enter licensing arrangements where appropriate. Work closely with our product teams to bring market insight back into our development process. What We're Looking For: Extensive experience pitching, negotiating, and closing deals with government and private sector businesses. An understanding or experience in marine consultancy, camera monitoring, machine learning, or other relevant sector. Ability to represent our business and brand as front of house with key contacts. Deep relationships (or the ability to build) with key decision-makers in relevant organisations. Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred. Not sure you meet all the requirements? Even if your experience looks a bit different, if you think you’d be a great fit for the role, we’d love to hear from you! You May Also Have: Direct experience in a relevant sector and existing, relevant relationships. A passion for surfing, marine, or other outdoor experiences.
