BSB51415 – Diploma of Work Health and Safety This course provides the necessary tools and knowledge for 2nd level managers to ensure workplace safety systems and activities are implemented and monitored across the workplace. Participants generally undertake this qualification because they have specific WH&S responsibilities that relate to work teams and individuals, as well as responsibility for managing a range of WHS issues within their workplace. The unit applies to people who work in a range of WHS roles across all industries and who apply a substantial knowledge base and well-developed skills in a wide variety of WHS contexts. Contribute to the systematic management of WHS risk – BSBWHS503 – Core This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to contribute to the systematic management of work health and safety (WHS) risk. It addresses the processes and techniques necessary to contribute to the systematic management of WHS risk. Manage effective WHS consultation and participation processes – BSBWHS502 – Core This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage the identification, review, development, implementation and evaluation of effective participation and consultation processes as an integral part of managing work health and safety (WHS). Contribute to implementing emergency procedures – BSBWHS510 – Elective This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to contribute to the implementation of planning and response procedures for emergencies. Facilitate the development and use of hazard-management tools – BSBWHS509 – Elective This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to facilitate the development and use of hazard-management tools. Manage WHS hazards and risks – BSBWHS504 – Core This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to facilitate the development and use of hazard-management tools. Investigate WHS incidents – BSBWHS505 – Core This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to plan, conduct and report on investigations of work health and safety (WHS) incidents that have resulted in, or have the potential to result in, injury or damage. It covers conducting an initial assessment of the situation; establishing the scope and legal parameters of the investigation; conducting a systematic analysis to identify underlying causes and actions for prevention; and reporting on the outcomes of the investigation appropriate to the potential severity of the incident, which may include accessing specialist expertise. Contribute to work-related health and safety measures and initiatives – BSBWHS410 – Elective This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to contribute to a range of work-related health and safety measures and initiatives. Assist with workplace monitoring processes – BSBWHS409 – Elective This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to assist with monitoring a range of physical agents and conditions relevant to work health and safety (WHS).
